The 10 Commandments of Foundation!
The 10 commandments of foundation!

1. Always make sure that your skin is hydrated!
Keeping the skin hydrated will not only keep it healthy but will cause it to appear smooth and radiant. Find a good moisturiser that works well with your skin type. Before applying foundation be sure to cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate for the most even results.

2. Find a formula!
If you have oily or acne-prone skin go for oil-free or mattifying formulas. These will stop your face from looking greasy and are less likely to spread bacteria. For those with normal to dry skin hydrating formulas are best for you! If you have sensitive skin try look for non-comedogenic or hypoallergenic formulas as they won’t block your pores and irritate your skin!

3. Match Up!
Finding your perfect foundation shade can be irritating sometimes. To find your colour don’t test it on the back of your hand but along the jawline instead! Choose a shade you think matches along with one shade lighter and one shade darker and swatch each along your jawline. In natural light, check out your reflection and the shade which disappears is your winner.

4. Seasons Change!
Most of us will find that our skin tone gets lighter or darker throughout the different seasons. Depending on the change of tone try purchasing the foundation shade that is one hue lighter or darker than your normal. Mix a drop or two in with your regular foundation until you've reached your desired shade. Simple as.

5. Prime Time!
Primers are used to smooth out the complexion and most allow the makeup to last throughout the day. There are many kinds of primer to suits all skin needs. For example, green-based primers are used to counteract redness, lavender-based primers are used to brighten dull skin and yellow-based primers are used to conceal dark circles and patches on the face.

6. Conceal!
Cakey looking makeup is never a good look. To avoid this apply a creamy concealer over areas of the face where you feel need it and then follow through with a small amount of foundation. Remember to blend well for a natural finish!

7. Foundation.
Drop a small amount of foundation onto the back of your clean hand or onto a makeup palette. Using your desired foundation tool (foundation brush, stippling brush, blender sponge or your hands) lightly apply the foundation onto your skin. Be sure to keep the application even all over the face and to include the jawline and neck! The key to a seamless, natural finish is blending, so blend away!!

8. Learn How to Contour!
Contouring is all about defining the face. Use a darker powder or bronzer with little to no shimmer and with a smaller angled powder brush, sweep the powder along the hairline, around the curve and into the hollow of the cheekbone and down onto the jawline. Think of it like the shape of a number 3! Blend out with a fluffy brush.

9. Bronze Away!
Bronzer will never fail to give you a beautiful glow regardless what season it is. Using a bronzer brush (or large powder brush), sweep a tiny amount onto areas of the face the sun would usually hit, such as the forehead, nose and cheekbones. And be sure to blend!

10. Light Up!
Highlighter will give you an instant lift by drawing in natural light to the most flattering points of your face. Apply a small amount down the center of the nose, along the brow bone and onto the cupids bow. Blend well and you’re ready to go!

4 in 1 Liquid Foundation

4 in 1 Liquid Foundation
4 in 1 liquid foundation!
Your favourite liquid foundation can actually be made into 4 other products with just a little know-how!
1. Tinted moisturiser
Tinted moisturisers are that half-way point between foundation and a moisturiser and are the perfect base for a no-make up look. They hydrate the skin whilst giving basic coverage leaving you with a foolproof canvas.
To make your own simply mix 1 part foundation to 1-2 parts moisturiser (based on desired coverage; the more coverage you desire the more foundation to use). Ta-dah! You have an instant tinted moisturiser.
2. Concealer
Concealer is my go to product. But sometimes it can be hard to find that perfect shade to match your foundation.
You know that gloopy foundation residue that accumulates at the rim of your foundation bottle or in the cap? Yeah- that stuff is gold! It’s your very customised concelaer for free!
3. Highlighter
Highlighter is one of the most important steps in contouring the face as it draws in and reflects light.
If you have a liquid foundation and a loose mineral eye shadow (preferably in a light, iridescent shade), you have a free liquid highlighter! Simply mix a tiny amount of eye shadow with some foundation on the back of your hand and apply to the desired areas- the bridge of the nose, cheekbones, cupids bow and brow bone.
4. Blank Canvas
Apply foundation directly to your lips and eyelids to neutralise underlying shades. Set with a translucent powder and you've got beautiful, clean canvas! Your red lips will pop, your colourful eye shadows will be more vibrant- Not to mention, it will last much longer!

Water benefits
5 advantages of drinking water!
We all know that water is possibly one of the best things we can put into our bodies but here are 5 reasons why water is my number 1.
5- Drinking water on an empty stomach will purify the colon making it easier for the body to absorb nutrients.
4- If you drink water regularly it will increase the production of new blood and muscle cells.
3- Helps with weight loss! Drinking at least 16 ounces of chilled water can boost your metabolism by 24% in the morning. Metabolism is the rate at which chemical reactions are carried out in the body, and so the faster this is the quicker your body can break down fats.
2- It will give you glowing skin! Water helps to purge toxins from the blood which helps keeps your skin glowing and clear. If you drink water regularly in time your skin will appear plumper and younger.
1- Balances your lymph system! These glands help you perform your daily functions, balance your body fluids, and fight infection.

lipstick commandments
The 10 commandments of lipstick for a perfect pout!
1. Start with a clean lip- gently exfoliate any dry skin by lightly rubbing your lips with a damp washcloth
2. Know your formulas- matte can be long-lasting, but may dry your lips out. Creamy formulas are hydrating, but may not last long, and longwearing formulas are more comfortable than they used to be. Experiment!
3. To intensify a colour, wear a lip pencil- lining your lips neutralizes their natural pinkness so the lipstick will be more opaque and closer to the colour in the tube.
4. A brush will help lipstick last longer- take the extra time to apply it with a brush in the morning or before a night on the town
5. Blot the right way- blot in between applications by gently pressing a tissue to your lips. Don't put the tissue in between lips and press down because that will make your lipstick wear off unevenly.
6. Don’t get lipstick on your teeth- put your index finger in your mouth and gently close your lips around it then pull it out. This will take off the lipstick from the inside of your lips so it won’t wind up on your teeth.
7. A dab of highlighter will enhance your cupid’s bow- the light reflecting particles will help draw attention to this pretty part of your mouth. You could also use a creamy concealer in the same spot to help define your lips.
8. Top with gloss- the shine will help to make your pout look even plumper. If you don't like the sticky feeling, just use a small drop in the middle of the bottom lip for a similar effect.
9. Don’t be afraid to go nude- the most flattering nude lipstick is one shade deeper than your natural skin tone. Fair-skinned ladies should try a hue with a hint of pink and those with olive or dark skin will want to reach for sandy beige.
10. There really is a red for everyone- to find the best hue for you, follow these guidelines: fair skin looks best with a blue-red hue, olive skin is flattered by an orange-red and dark skin looks best with a burgundy red.
